Extreme Makeover--Me Edition

Introduction:

I know that as women and especially moms,
all too often in the scheme of life & routine, we put ourselves on the back burner. I imagine a lot of nods & "amen sista" to that one. We make sure that everyone else is taken care of, and at the end of the day, we don't have enough time or energy to give ourselves the proper care that we need & deserve.

I hope and pray that you find some sort of encouragement to say,
"You know what? I AM worth it. It's time to take care of ME."

And you know what? God thinks you are worth it. Your family thinks you are worth it. Look in to the eyes of your husband, child, or someone very special to you--and you will see that you.are.worth.it.

-------------------------------------------------------

Welcome everyone! For you newbies, here's the skinny {ha!} This is a group of mostly women, {but everyone is welcome} who are on a mission to get healthy. To make themselves a priority. To take care of themselves, as well as taking care of everyone else. Are you ready to join in? Well, let's go!

----------------------------------------------------------

Directions: Every week, you'll do a specific post on your blog in regards to Extreme Makeover--Me Edition.

----Pretty much, just update us on your progress. How did your week go? Did you struggle? How were you successful? Do you have any great tips? {I think it's also important to celebrate even little successes}

----Answer the specific question or topic that I pose each week.

After you've finished your post, view that specific post {either view your blog & click on the title of that post, or go 'edit posts' and 'view'}. Grab the url and post it into Mr. Linky. Simple as that!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week's question:

How are you keeping track of your achievements. How do you reward yourself when you acheive a goal?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I am living proof that losing weight has it's ups & it's downs. lol. I have fluctuated between one pound this week. I have GOT to get my booty in gear! Why is it so hard to adopt an exercise routine and keep with it? While I haven't done a 'formal' exercise workout this week, I have gotten outside with the kids for more walks, playing outside, playing at the park, etc.

From the comments I've been getting and posts I've been readin, it seems that a lot of us are discouraged this week. And you know what, I think it's normal! I'm talking to myself as well, lol. I need a pep talk. I think that in ANY lifestyle change, you get to a sort of plateau or slump a few weeks in. Then you'll have a few good weeks, and slump again. It's a cycle, just like all the other rollercoaster cycles we have in life {hellllllooooo emotional women!!} That'd be me. I've recently told a few of you that I feel like I've been coming across as a nutcase & an emotional rollercoaster here on this bliggity blog. Now you know what I'm like in real life!! :)

ANYWAY, keep it up girls! This too, shall pass.

So, how do I keep track of my acheivements? Well, I try to verbalize the things that I've been doing that are good. I think it's important to focus on the good, even when we don't feel we're doing great. I like to talk to my hubby or my BFF about my progress {when they ask mostly} because I think speaking them out loud is good. Positive self talk is good too. That is such a hard one for me. I've been trying to do better.

Here's a good way to reward progress! Nikki made it for me a couple weeks ago, and I've been wanting to share it. Isn't it cute!? I'm going to scan it in and make one for any of you that want one!! So let me know!!

Holy cow, how did I get to be first...I'll add my post later today for this week's W.I.W.(weigh in Wednesday)
Here's what I'm weighing in on...FOr the last two weeks I put myself in clamp down mode, only to loose a measly THREE pounds! ugh! Lent is over tomorrow, and I hoped to have one "real" pepsi for the first time since January. Maybe not. I'm in a wedding this weekend, and although the dress fits and looks okay(bless you makers of Spanx) I wanted to look GREAT for it!
I can't complain, I'm still marching at a GREAT pace towards my goal, and I can see the changes, I just want MORE right now!!

btw...added new button tonight, only it was a bit too big for my page(your blog address was cut off)...I went back in(photobucket) and scaled down to 200x200 and it fits nicely now! Just thought I let you know.

Good Morning! That is an awesome reward! I really crack myself up because I always want to reward myself with food which is what has gotten me into this jam in the first place. *shakes head at silly connie*

It takes time to get into new habits...so I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about what I'm putting in my mouth. I need to focus on a few little things a week. Establishing the exercise is really hard and I'm having to force myself to get up....but soon it will feel as normal as getting up and taking a shower. I hope.

Have a great week!

Amber you ask how we reward ourselves - my first thought was 'dinner at the Battletown Inn! with dessert!' Isn't that terrible? I live to eat, not eat to live...

Kasey April 8, 2009 at 7:11 AM

I am putting up a post about this question. Was I supposed to sign in with Mr Linky for this? I'm confused! Oh well- come visit I'll have my answer and a shout out for ya!

and yes I want for you to host a FMM! When is good for you?

onegirliegirl April 8, 2009 at 7:16 AM

Oh, Jen and Connie...I am so with you!!! I reward with eating as well. Which one of us gets to play therapist first?! LOL

Amber...LOVE the new look!! Holy cow girl it's awesome!!!
Weight wise, I went back to my original loss. So I'm at a break even. So for those of us thinking "only 3 lbs", Hey...I'd take that in a heartbeat. Slow and steady!! This way it's more likely to stay off :)

Have a great week everyone!!!

xoxo ~Lisa

Amber...your new blog design is fabulous! I love it!

I agree...we need to be more verbal about the things we're doing right!

I am determined to get past this slump! I love how encouraged I feel after EMME, thanks!

I'm lovin' the makeover, Amber . . . beautiful!!! I'm working on this week's post, and I couldn't agree with you more. Let's not beat ourselves up over what we didn't do (or what we did!). If we focus on what we're doing right it'll keep us positive and motivated to keep on!

Hi there! I am not a blogger....yet :) Just popped by and love yours. Great idea. I have a great group of friends that are basically doing the same thing....working great.

I also became a follower to see what other interesting tidbits you have to write about!

Laurel @ Ducks in a Row April 8, 2009 at 11:40 AM

Yeah for you - five pounds is a big deal - at least to me it is!

miss April 11, 2009 at 7:07 AM

Great idea. I have been fighting post baby weight for over a year now. I think lack of accountablity has been what has held me back, plus all the goodies. Good luck to all!

Colleen June 7, 2009 at 6:27 AM

Oh my gosh, you are as cute as a little button! I don't have a blog, but I'm going to do the Extreme Makeover ME edition at home, and do a visual-journal type thing. Can't wait to play along! Love love love all your 'pink sensibilities.'
